Voices of Female Entrepreneurs Recap: Empowering Insights from Leading Women in Business
I attended "Voices of Female Entrepreneurs" webinar yesterday, where inspiring women entrepreneurs shared their journeys. It was truly incredible to hear a panel of female leaders across the globe going through similar challenges in navigating business, family, and personal aspirations. Here's my key takeaways:
The Importance of Taking Space and Embracing Diversity
Gina O'Reilly opened the webinar with a powerful message about the importance of taking space in between projects. Giving ourselves a pause will not only serves us as a moment to take a break, but it gives us a boost of creativity. Gina shared her personal experience of taking a sabbatical between high-pressure roles, which allowed her to return with fresh ideas and renewed energy.
She also touched upon the significance of bringing women into venture capital (VC) roles. While VCs are predominantly men, she highlighted that the inclusion of women is not just about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) but about bringing different perspectives to the table. She noted, "Women bring a unique lens to investment decisions, often considering factors that might be overlooked by their male counterparts."
Finding Calm in Ambiguity and Navigating Trade-offs
Lisa Piercey's session was an inspiring exploration of finding calm in ambiguity and pressing on with faith. She shared her journey in navigating the uncertainties of the business world and the importance of maintaining composure during turbulent times.
She also discussed the trade-offs involved in switching gears when faced with significant challenges, just like when we hit a big pothole! Lisa explained that while these moments can be frustrating, they offer opportunities for growth and perseverance. She encouraged entrepreneurs to embrace these challenges with a positive mindset and to view them as stepping stones rather than obstacles.
Building Routines for Success
Nicol's story was focused on the importance of building routines to achieve success. She emphasised that whether it's prepping meals, running, or simply going to bed on time, establishing a routine can be incredibly grounding. Nicol shared her daily routine, which includes a mix of physical activity, healthy eating, and adequate rest, as a foundation for her success.
She also highlighted the role of consistency in achieving long-term goals. This advice is particularly relevant to me as a new mom and entrepreneur, who often juggle multiple responsibilities and need a stable routine to stay focused and productive.
Knowing Your Whys and Finding a Mentor
Guzel's session was a heartfelt discussion on the importance of knowing your "whys" during low times and the value of finding a mentor. She shared her personal journey of overcoming challenges by staying connected to her core motivations and seeking guidance from mentors.
"Your 'why' is your anchor," Guzel explained. "During tough times, it's what keeps you grounded and focused on your goals." She also stressed the importance of mentorship, describing how her mentors provided not only guidance but also emotional support and encouragement. Pretty much finding that person that is just a call away.
In conclusion, the "Voices of Female Entrepreneurs" webinar was a powerful reminder of the resilience, creativity, and strength that women bring to the business world. We are great multi-tasker and problem solver at home, so we can transfer the same skills to our business. I hope this recap has inspired and uplifted you to continue moving forward!
