I'm so grateful that I stumbled upon Fractional People People (FPP) community! My cousin introduced me to it and as soon as I joined the Slack channel, my mind was just blown away with how supportive the members are! Even better, they launched their first offsite event in Austin, which where I live!
I didn't know what to expect, but I had a feeling that it would be AMAZING. I was right. The term "fractional" has been buzzing more in the past few months, so I thought, why not meeting other fractional HR folks in-person?! Turned out, it was more than just equipping, it was very refreshing!
Here's some recap of what I learned:
1. Fractional Mindset
As a business owner, I still stuck on having an employee mindset sometimes. Annesa Fike, a well-known fractional CPOs, taught us that we have to do things differently. We need to operate as an owner, in abundance, not in lacking. Fractional leaders know how to make a huge impact in a short amount of time. We are playing both roles as a strategist and operational, so it is our job to educate others on the benefit of hiring us.
2. Building Trust
As we are offering services to our clients, we put our name on the table. Just like any other services, TRUST is a key. We are entrusted to tackle people challenges within an organization, how can we build the trust with all stakeholders, in such a short amount of time? Start with trust.
3. Continuous learning & failing
Turns out, everyone is figuring things out. We are all continuous learners, trying to tweak or business strategy, change our pricing model, or figuring out how to build our brand. I love that we encourage one another in our business journey. We are all experts in people operations, but we are learning to build our business. It's inspiring to hear many stories of success and failures from others.
All that to say, my brain was pretty mushed by the end of the event, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else! I'm so excited to apply all that I've learned last week!! One more takeaway, FIND YOUR TRIBE and once you find them, HOLD THEM TIGHT.
